Rogga

Mars was the stepping stone to the cosmos for Humanity. It was the first world colonized, and many experimental terraforming agents were introduced to its early citizenry. These chemicals, it was thought, were responsible for the genetic changes in the early inhabitants of Mars. These inhabitants would shape the future of Mars into a semblance of the past, forgotten centuries ago by a long extinct race...

The colonists, once Human, began experiencing unusual symptoms of what scientists would later name the "Rogga Syndrome." One out of every 10,000 colonists began experiencing widespread health problems that plagued them with unusual symptoms for just over a year, and then subsided. The result of these symptoms caused a series of changes in the victim, altering the victim's adaptability to Mars itself. These people, later dubbed "Stage Ones," continued their lives as normal, but the seed had been sown.

Any Stage One which mated, even with uninfected Humans, would breed a child that was born slightly different from the parent organism. The child would have increased adaptability to Mars, and needed no environmental assistance while on the naked surface of the Red Planet. These children would come to be known as "Stage Twos." All Stage Two children share the genetic traits of black hair, yellow eyes, and dark, swarthy skin. Stage Twos are also known for one other trait: They are typically more violent than the average Human, due to enlargement of the medulla oblongata.

"Stage Three" children, bred by Stage Two parents, gave the government of Mars at that time serious reason to worry. Crime on the surface of Mars had grown immensely, and Stage Three children were solely to blame. These violent offenders gave rise to the naming of their generation as the "Rogues." The Rogga were growing as a species.

"Stage Four" children, growing stronger and more violent than their parents, also demonstrated a propensity towards violence. Their violence, however, was not toward each other. Every bastion of Human government was attacked, and the victims of Rogga Syndrome were leading the charge.

"We demand freedom from a weak regime of pacifists, bent on the ideals of peace and unity amongst races. Mars is our home; leave us to worship our God..."

The corporations in conjunction with the newly created Terran Defense Corporation drove any and all of these creatures to the four corners of Mars. These "Martian Campaigns" were short, bloody, and violent beyond repeating.

The Roggas, by this time, had evolved to "Stage Fives," their final stage of new evolution. These beings were no longer Human, altered by the meddling of the previous generations of experimenting terraformers, but also partially by the interference of MOKA, their mutual deity. This MOKAthey worshipped preached that conflict was the divine purge by which all things would be cleansed. What seemed even more frightening was the notion that this was not simply a cultural distinction, but the Rogga were enjoying the war.

By the end of the Martian Campaigns, Humanity now understood why these beings fought so violently. To the Roggas, war is prayer. Instead of waging yet another war, Humanity's newly formed Coalition (at the advising of the recently aligned Miliari) enlisted the help of the Rogga immediately. Now they serve as shock troops in many battles with the Ji. Roggas are stationed anywhere there is daily combat, and when the combat is over, they are willingly placed in cryostasis until another battle is joined.
